As a mom to small children, I know that losing teeth happens on a regular basis. I also know that it can be a major pain in the butt to try to feel under the pillow to retrieve this tiny tooth and replace it with money. So when our dental hygienist gave me the opportunity to sew some tooth fairy pillows for her to sell in her office, I thought what a great idea!
I was going to a potluck and needed something to bring. Since I live quite far away, I decided to take a potato salad. While looking for a recipe, I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I liked a little bit of one recipe and a little bit of another recipe, so I decided to make a combination of both. I call this one the
Fully Loaded Baked Potato Salad
Imagine taking a baked potato loaded with everything and putting it into a salad.
It turned out yummy!!
I will look for any reason to give a handmade gift. I love giving and I try to teach my children that it is better to give than receive.
Whether it be for a teacher, a friend or a family member. Unfortunately, a lot of my gift giving was done pre- blog so I will find the resource I used to re-create it and any changes that I made.
Teacher Appreciation Gifts
Teachers are one of the number one reason that I give gifts. I think that they work so hard for our children that they deserve a little appreciation.
This idea came from Scrap Happens
I gave one similar to this to my daughter’s pre-school teacher. I love the crayons!
My daughter was turning 5 at the end of February and she just loves horses. When I asked her what she wanted as a theme for her birthday party, it was no surprise that she said Horses!!
Pink Cowgirl Birthday Party:
My parents got married when I was 18 years old. They have a blended family. My mom has 4 grown children and my step-dad has 5. For Christmas last year, I decided to make them a gift that was truly unique and one of a kind. Since all of the kids (and grandkids) are spread throughout Canada and the United States, I thought I would do something around that. I came across an idea on Pinterest that showed a cross stitch pattern of the state of Texas with a little heart over a certain city. Our family is spread out through Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, and Texas so I decided to make my own.
When it comes to giving gifts to friends and family, I always prefer to give something personal and meaningful with a little DIY. We were having a little get together for a friend’s birthday with some of the girls and we all brought some libations and nosh and my contribution were these unbelievable strawberries with Jell-O margaritas inside them! You can find the recipe here.
I know that she really enjoys reading, I thought why not make a bookmark!
And as a mom, who wouldn’t want pictures of your kids, so this is what I came up with.
Strawberry Margarita Jell-O Shots
These mini strawberry shots were absolutely delish! They are one of those “desserts” that you can’t have just one.
I really enjoy cooking with Italian sausage. When I cook for the kids, it’s always mild pork sausage. Sausage, tomatoes and pasta say Italian. Use hot sausage if you like more spice. When it’s just me, I always use spicy. I love spicy!
Our Sunday afternoons are usually pretty quiet. That is usually when I set aside some time to do a craft. This time, we decided to do paintings for their room that had their name on it.
In our house, we LOVE cheese. The cheesier the better! I came up with the easiest, cheesiest pasta dish many years ago and my kids love it. We call it “Cheesy Noodles” The best part? It only has 4 ingredients.
As a parent, there are many things that you just learn along the way. However, there are several things over the years that I wish I would have known about A LOT sooner.
For my daughter’s 6th birthday party, she wanted a Mermaids and Pirates: Under the Sea party. I said no problem! Let’s do it! and we had a blast.
Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to be creative. Don’t get me wrong, there was a time when going to the store to purchase cheapy valentines was the thing to do. Since I started making them myself, I just can’t stop, even though now I have 3 classrooms of valentines to make.
I really like the valentines that don’t have candy attached, but some of them are too cute to pass up.
On the nights that I am tired from running around with my 5 girls, I want to make something for dinner that even my picky eaters will eat (Including my husband).
I wanted to figure out how to have a fun way to spend New Years Eve with your kids. Looking around, I had a list of fun crafts, activities and games that I have always wanted to do with my kids. I would just twist some of them to work with a New Years Eve theme.
